Which body is best?

Social media has become a part of our lives; it bombards us with images, and we can't always choose what appears on our screens. Because of this, we forget that images on the internet are edited, reality is distorted, and people only show us what they want us to see.

It's easy to get carried away by overwhelming feelings where we put our bodies into perspective by comparing ourselves to those we consider better, to the person we were yesterday, to the body we had 10 years ago and the one we will have, to the person we saw on Instagram, Tik Tok, or Facebook. We allow opinions to enter our minds because since childhood, we've normalized feeling judged, that we should be more or that we need to be less. We stand in front of the mirror, and automatically our mind tells us what we once heard was wrong.

So, who would we be if the only opinion that mattered were our own?

Your body is unique; every inch of it tells a story only you know. It has not only been able to keep you alive but also to give you a life full of moments, feelings, and journeys, and it is the result of genes and adventures as unique as its owner.

It is not right to romanticize the physical characteristics we dislike as if to justify the love we deserve. We should normalize them because, in case you forget, cellulite is present in over 90% of women, stretch marks are the result of skin stretching over a short period and appear during adolescence, pregnancy, and due to sudden weight changes. Large or small scars are marks that show a healing process, and together, these and all the physical qualities you once judged only make you more human.

It's necessary to remember that perfect bodies don't exist, that all people have insecurities, and that our skin is merely the cover to everything you represent as a valuable and unique person. Accepting and loving it isn't something that will happen when you change everything you dislike. People who are confident are those who choose not to be limited by public opinion.

It's time to appreciate your body, forgive it, and give back some of the love it has lost along the way, because the best body you can have is the one that fills you with life, stories, and emotions.
